Originally from London, Carol Burdett Mayer has lived in the Ripon area in North Yorkshire since 1970. She first began writing poetry by candlelight, after moving into a remote old gamekeeper's cottage.
She has worked as an Art Teacher, a College bookshop manager, Museum guide and as a part-time Adult Education tutor. She has an MA in Art History.
