ABAI: Ernie's War: A Collection of Poems Commemorating the Heroes of WW2 by Susanna Lewis

A moving collection of poems inspired by the personal story of a true-life hero Ernest (Ernie) Lewis from Driffield, East Yorkshire, who was a Private in the Yorkshire based regiment - The Green Howards, during the Second World War.This compilation, written by his daughter in law, includes poems telling the story of Ernie’s internment in a German prisoner-of-war camp in Poland and his perilous journey on the infamous Long March between Jan-April 1945. The author has included other poignant poems that visit the life of adults and children in England, as they lived through the war, including Ernie’s sweetheart, Mary who waited patiently for her true love to return home.
