When her father fails to return from his expedition to find the Goldicoot, Polly sets out deep into the Hibrodean rainforest, but she is not alone. Even before she boards the steamship, she realises she is not the only one convinced that the Goldicoot is more than a mythological golden bird. Her only guide is her father’s journal, its last pages destroyed by fire.
